What is Avalon?

Avalon is a holistic healing centre in Barcelona and Ibiza (Spain), dedicated to self-discovery and profound inner journeys. Our retreats bring together the ancient wisdom of sacred medicines such as Ayahuasca, Magic Mushrooms, San Pedro, and Bufo Alvarius with modern practices of preparation, integration, and personalised care.

We follow a shamanic approach to the world of plant medicines, working with shamans from ancestral traditions of Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní), Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, Cofán), and Peru (Quechua). Our mission is to create safe, contemporary, and refined spaces where participants can experience these medicines in the traditional Amazonian way.

With deep respect for ancestral knowledge, we complement it with tools that help non-indigenous participants gain the most from their experience and apply insights to everyday life. Preparation before the retreat builds confidence and clarity; our holistic programme introduces practices that foster wellbeing beyond the ceremony; and integration supports participants in maximising benefits while navigating any challenges that may arise afterwards.

Set and setting are two of the most critical factors in a psychedelic experience. At Avalon, safety and care are at the heart of everything we do. From the very beginning, participants are supported by a dedicated team, with a nearly one-to-one facilitator-to-guest ratio during retreats. Our team also includes a medical advisor, and we follow many of the safety guidelines recommended by ICEERS.

In adapting rituals that are not part of our own culture, we honour tradition while offering the highest level of comfort and beauty. This balance helps participants feel safe, surrender to the process, and embrace the full potential of a transformative journey.

What does a 6-day holistic Ayahuasca retreat include?

• 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies by experienced (>10 years) shamans trained in Colombia (Kamëntsa, Kichwa, Pastos, Muisca, and Cofán traditions), Peru (Quechua tradition), or Brazil (Yawanawá, Huni Kuin, Mbyá Guaraní traditions).
• 4 Rapé ceremonies (dried tobacco powder) – clearing the mind and cleansing the body and energy field, used in combination with Ayahuasca.
• 4 Integration workshops with a trained psychologist, combining diverse and creative methods, such as sharing circles, writing, art therapy, and ecstatic dance.
• 1 One-on-one integration session – Designed to bring your unique experience into your daily life and ensure lasting change.

  My experience at Avalon was incredible. From the moment you arrive you can feel the love, care and detail that is put into every element of your stay. It's a lovely, spacious location with a lake, trees, hammocks, horses and more. There are various activities you can choose from such as yoga, massage and dance in addition to the ceremonies. They also have an amazing chef Maria who plans out chromatic meals each day based on the colors of the chakras. It was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone. The entire team made me feel incredibly welcomed, loved and cared for. Big thank you to Alejandro and everyone at Avalon!

  This was my first ayahuasca experience, and I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better place. From the very beginning, everything felt incredibly well organized. I felt safe at all times, truly cared for, and supported in a very thoughtful way. The place itself is absolutely beautiful peaceful, surrounded by nature, and very comfortable. And the food… not only delicious but also very original and clearly prepared with so much attention and love. I’m leaving deeply grateful for the whole experience.   This is Healing, not Recreational retreat, beware!! People who decide to go to Avalon must simply remember that before reserving a seat! This is not to have fun (although you will have fun, but with the other guests and the Avalon Crew) or during one or more of the sessions. Healing, healing: I thought I had nothing to heal, aka "I am in good shape, good health, and no known psychological or physical issue". I went there for discovery, for getting closer to my Real Self, to my Soul, and also to have some fancy travel, to be honest. Well, no "fancy travel in the stars" for me (others participants had that), no, not this time. But, gosh, all the rest was stunning. And difficult. but believe, when you lose your ego, you become the REAL you. You accept and embrace life. You are finally happy without limit.

  From the initial orientation to the closing circle, I felt deeply safe, held, and seen, creating the space for my healing process to unfold naturally. I returned to Avalon for another week-long retreat specifically because of the team’s immense love and passion for this work, alongside their commitment to safety protocols, trust, and participant agency.

  Alejandro has built a beautiful, safe and inclusive setting for all participants. This allowed us to truly be ourselves and to discover ourselves and each other more deeply.

  I have made some new friends for life.

  The setting for the ceremonies was both stunning and magical. It was other-worldly whilst maintaining practical considerations. Every aspect has clearly been well planned and thought through with love.

  The journey with the medicine itself was personally very deep. Words can’t really sum this up sufficiently, but I have left Avalon feeling brighter, lighter and optimistic about the future – not just for myself but for us all as a collective.

  I had the opportunity to take part in a three-day ayahuasca retreat, and it was a truly profound and transformative experience.

  From the very beginning, I felt held by an exceptionally dedicated and professional team. The retreat brought together musicians and facilitators who created a deeply immersive atmosphere, therapists who were able to support both the rational and emotional dimensions of the experience, and a group of magicians and healers who held space for the dreamlike, symbolic and magical aspects of the journey.

  The live music was an essential part of the process, creating a powerful bridge between the inner experience and the emotional landscape that unfolded. I also deeply appreciated the care put into the organisation, the delicious homemade vegan food, and the attention to detail throughout the entire retreat.

  What impressed me most was the balance between different worlds: the grounded, therapeutic and psychological approach of the Western tradition, and the symbolic, ancestral and magical dimension of the medicine. Rather than feeling contradictory, these perspectives complemented each other beautifully.

  I left the retreat with a deep sense of gratitude and with many insights that continue to unfold within me. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a safe, respectful and deeply meaningful space for inner exploration and transformation.

  This was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Everything I had read in other reviews turned out to be true – the team are great, and the level of care they put into every detail shows. The whole experience exceeded my expectations.
  A few things stood out for me personally. The hiking was exceptional and became one of the most powerful parts of the journey. The ceremony around the fire, the deep connection with the elements — wind, water, earth, and fire — the music and the songs all came together to create something I won’t forget. The shaman’s work was profound, and the facilitation throughout was excellent. I came away with a lot of insights — about myself, about nature, and about masculine energy in particular. There was also a strong somatic dimension to the work, with deep healing and real release and relief in the body that has stayed with me.
  I’ll be following their future events with interest, and I look forward to joining a men’s retreat with them when the opportunity comes.
